Health and Wellness Program... Keeping Centered and Focused

As an association focused on aging in a meaningful way, we are offering some health and wellness opportunities throughout the conference in hopes of keeping our attendees centered, relaxed and focused on the goals of the convention. We hope you will participate in one or more of our new Health and Wellness offerings! 

Be sure to view below details on each Health and Wellness program offering in regards to locations, times, and fees. Pre-registration is required... Space is limited for each offering. We plan to continually add to the Health and Wellness program for GSA 2023, so please visit this webpage periodically to check out the latest offerings.


Already registered for GSA 2023? Below is information on how to edit your registration to add events.
Steps to Modify your 2023 ASM Registration:

  1. Login to your GSA account.
  2. Click on your name or GSA Dashboard in the upper right corner of your screen.
  3. Under Events, click on View/Edit My Registration.
  4. Click on the Edit button to access and modify your ASM registration.
  5. Select additional events or ASM add-ons and follow the onscreen prompts to walk through the checkout process.
  6. Click on the Update Registration button to finalize your modified registration.

Thursday, November 9th | 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM ET at Tampa Waterfront Marriott

Fee:
$5 per person (registration required)

Description:
Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath, and mind. It uses physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health. Yoga was developed as a spiritual practice thousands of years ago. Today we do yoga for exercise and to reduce stress. The sunrise practice will conclude with a healing meditation designed for healers.

Friday, November 10th | 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM ET at Tampa Waterfront Marriott

$5 per person (registration required)

Description:
Yoga with Meditation - Yoga is a Sanskrit word translated as “yoke” or “union.” To yoke means to draw together, to bind together; or to unite. Its aim is to yoke or create a union of the body, mind, soul, and universal consciousness. This process of uniting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of ourselves is what allows yogis to experience deep states of freedom, peace and self-realization. This class is designed to connect the breath, the body, and the mind.

Saturday, November 11th | 6:30 AM – 7:45 AM ET at Tampa Convention Center Exhibit Hall West

Fee:
$25 per person (registration required)

Description:
Runners, joggers, and walkers of all skill levels are invited to participate in a fun‐filled morning along the beautiful Tampa waterfront. Everyone is a winner in this race . . . and no timing will be done. Come out simply for the health benefit and for fun. All proceeds from this event will go to The Doris Schwartz Gerontological Nursing Research.

Saturday, November 11th | 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM ET at Tampa Waterfront Marriott

Fee:
$5 per person (registration required)

Description:
Sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by singing bowls. It is a carefully selected wash of instrument and voice with notable resonance and overtones designed to stimulate the energic body (chakras).

$35 per ticket (registration required)

Description:
Join us for an evening of imagination and artistic expression! Grab a friend and a beverage from the Marriott bar and head to our room where we will have easels and all painting accessories ready for creating your own personal masterpiece!

Saturday, November 11th | 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM ET at Tampa Waterfront Marriott, Florida Ballroom Salon I

$25 per ticket (registration required)

Description:
Join the Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Gerontology Advisory Panel for a screening of "The Bubble" by Valerie Blankenbyl. A documentary about The Villages, one of the largest retirement communities in the United States, the film explores culture, lifestyle, and personal choice in later years with commentary and discussion by the director. Cash bar available.
