COVID-19 Safety Recommendations

For the health and safety of all in attendance at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting, GSA recommends that individuals take responsibility for protecting themselves and other participants by following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on measures to reduce infection from COVID-19 and to protect against severe complications. GSA recommends and urges all attendees to follow the CDC’s recommendation for updated vaccine as soon as they are eligible to do so. For more information, please review the guidelines at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/stay-up-to-date.html.

For the health and safety of GSA 2023 attendees, GSA’s COVID-19 safety recommendation or established protocol is subject to change based on COVID-19 community infection levels and any updated guidance from CDC and/or federal or state officials in localities hosting the GSA in-person meeting.

If you begin to exhibit any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, we encourage you to follow CDC guidelines. Please self-test or visit a Tampa testing site.  Should you test positive while onsite, please inform Jim Evans, GSA VP-Operations [email protected] of your positive results; reporting is strictly confidential. GSA cannot be held liable for COVID-19 cases arising because of event attendance.

ABOUT GSA

The Gerontological Society of America is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging. GSA’s principal mission — and that of our 5,500 members — is to promote the study of aging and disseminate information to scientists, decision makers, and the general public. Founded in 1945, GSA is the driving force behind advancing innovation in aging — both domestically and internationally. Our members come from more than 50 countries. To further fulfill our mission, GSA assembles more nearly 4,000 professionals from around the world to an Annual Scientific Meeting. This monumental event now features more than 500 sessions each year. Additionally, we publish the field’s preeminent peer-reviewed journals.
